Head of School
In the fall of 2014, the Governing Board selected Dr. Kenneth L. Grunden to serve as the Head of School for Harvest Preparatory School. Previously, Dr. Grunden served as the Headmaster for several Christian schools in Cincinnati, the Open Bible Christian Academy in Kingsville, MD, and Temple Christian School, Lima, Ohio. Dr. Grunden and his wife have dedicated their lives to Christian service through Christian education. More recently, he served as the President of Ohio Mid-Western College in Cincinnati, OH.
Dr. Grunden received a Doctor of Religious Education degree from Temple Baptist Seminary, a Master of Education degree from Westminster College, and undergraduate degrees in Education and Business Administration from Youngstown State University. His education experience both public and Christian schools, consists of teaching and certificates in Elementary, Middle School, and Special Education, leadership to Student Teachers, principal/Headmaster for 18 years, and College leadership for 10 years. He also had a business career in Training and Development, Human Resources, and Entrepreneurship and was listed in Who’s Who in Global Business Leaders Worldwide.
Dr. Grunden’s experience also consists of an overseas ministry and mission assignment in South Korea for six years, teaching and ministering to college students and teachers in public schools. He has shepherded and ministered to Internationals in English Worship Services, a church plant in a Korean church. He has many experiences from the Far East that he loves to share.
Training up young men and women of God is an awesome and blessed responsibility which he does not take lightly. The Lord has entrusted him with students to train up and he is accountable to God for them. Founded in love, rooted in the Word, and centered on Christ, all we do and teach is designed to provide children with an excellent academic foundation while preparing them for a life of service to the Lord and others.
Mr. Andrew J. Mills
Head of Upper School
Mr. Andrew J. Mills serves as the Head of Upper School, serving the students and faculty of grades 7-12. Mr. Mills has served on the Harvest Preparatory School administrative and faculty teams for twelve years in various positions. In addition to serving as the Student Affairs Coordinator and Senior Class Advisor, he most recently served as the Upper School Social Studies Department Chair. As a teacher, Mr. Mills was responsible for teaching courses with concentrations in World Studies, American History, Government, and Economics. In addition, he established an inaugural social studies elective course entitled, “History of the Holocaust,” for upperclassmen.
Mr. Mills served on active duty and in the reserve component of the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Electrial and Environmental Systems Specialist for KC-135’s and C-130J model airframes. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base (San Antonio, Texas), Sheppard Air Force Base (Wichita Falls, Texas), Royal Air Force Mildenhall (United Kingdom), Keesler Air Force Base (Biloxi, Mississippi), and Grisson Air Reserve Base (Peru, Indiana). As an airman, Mr. Mills earned the recognition of being named to the “Quality Assurance Honor Roll” for his flawless executions during evaluations and inspections.
As a strong advocate of higher education, he holds three college degrees, two in education from Liberty University’s School of Education, and one in aviation maintenance technology from the Community College of the Air Force. Mr. Mills is currently working on a fourth degree, in the education field.
Mr. Mills is a member of World Harvest Church, where he has attended with his family for 34 years.
Mrs. Lisa Mahoney
Head of Lower School
Mrs. Lisa Mahoney serves as the Head of Lower School for Harvest Preparatory School, serving students and faculty of grades preschool-6th. Mrs. Mahoney has had various positions such as Summer Cool Coordinator, Extended Care Coordinator, Preschool Coordinator and Teacher. It is her determination and no nonsense attitude that drives her leadership in the lower school. She wants to see every child succeed academically, spiritually, and physically. It is her belief and commitment to see students excel beyond what they believe about themselves.
Mrs. Mahoney has a degree in Business Management from Ohio Christian University and a degree from Valor Christian College. She and her family have been members of World Harvest Church for 23 years. She has 2 daughters who graduated from Harvest Preparatory school and 2 daughters currently attending Harvest Preparatory School.
